There are times where a worker cannot return to their pre-injury role, this can either be because of the nature of the worker’s injury or the nature of the industry in which the worker is employed. In these cases it is necessary for the worker to find an alternative employment solution.
In these cases, we will assist the worker with identifying areas of employment that suit them by undertaking a vocational transferrable skills assessment. This assessment will recognize the worker’s current skill level, education and experience to ascertain particular areas of the workforce where they are most likely to be able to gain employment.
A vocational transferrable skills assessment involves:
- Meeting with the worker to discuss their work history
- Identification of training requirements that may be needed to obtain ongoing employment in the identified areas
- Identification of barriers
- Sourcing and booking short courses or license testing
- Labour market analysis report
Based on the results of the vocational assessment with our Rehabilitation Counsellor, we will then provide the worker with the following tools to assist them in sourcing new employment:
- Resume preparation
- Cover letter preparation
- Job interview preparation and tips
- How to discuss your injury and subsequent time off work with prospective employers
- Job guide
- Short tutorials on how to apply for positions vacant online, including attaching cover letters and resumes
There are times when a worker may need to undertake a short course, obtain a ticket or licence to enable them to apply for various positions and our team will be there to assist and direct them as necessary.
